Dion Hershan, head of Australian equities at Yarra Capital Management, sums up the mood of many investors at the Macquarie Australia conference when he says his firm wants to back companies that take the long view. “Only a fraction of Australian public companies are genuinely run with a long-term outlook,” says Hershan, who spent three days at the conference, locked in presentations and one-on-one meetings with a range of companies.
